In Ordinary Time do we break open the Extraordinary!

Jesus the Good Shepherd is a thriving singing community!  Thank you for coming back to Mass after the Pandemic and opening your hearts again to the joy of song! The sung Gloria and Eucharistic Acclamations in the Mass are an important part of the fabric of a community of believers.   The Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy states, “A liturgical service takes on a nobler aspect when the rites are celebrated with singing” (Par. 113).  In order to keep this text fresh and accessible, we would like to introduce the Mass of Joy and Peace by Tony Alonso!  This can be found in our new Gather hymnals #247-259 and will replace our Ordinary Time Mass setting, The Mass of Christ the Savior.  Mass of Joy and Peace “weaves together gentle melodic motifs and jubilant, lilting rhythmic patterns, eliciting a sense of quiet joy and blissful peace” (GIAMusic.com).   We hope you will listen in advance and participate as you feel comfortable throughout the coming weeks.  Remember it was St. Augustine who once said, “singing is for the one who loves!”  You can click the link below to hear a playlist of the Mass parts we will be using.

Our PhilosopHy

The Music Ministry at CCJGS is a combination of volunteer and professional musicians actively enriching the liturgy and worship of Mass. The music at CCJGS is a very important aspect of liturgy, and helps develop the tone of each Mass that it supports. There are four opportunities is sing or play in choir! On special occasions, like Covenant Sunday, all choirs join together to create the Covenant Choir.
