On Saturday, September 13, our parish will host a retreat for parents who are grieving the loss of a child, regardless of the age of the child, when they died, or the cause. This retreat is offered by grieving parents for grieving parents. It provides an opportunity for you to concentrate on your individual spiritual journey following the death of a child in the company of other parents who understand at least some of what you are going through. The day includes prayer, reflection, large and small group discussions, and a Vigil Mass for Sunday, as well as lunch and dinner. There are opportunities tolisten to the experiences of other parents, and to share your experiences, though no one is required to share. Many people participate by listening and find consolation in the company of others who simply understand. This day is offered by the Archdiocese of Washington Office of Family Life in collaboration with the Emmaus Ministry for Grieving Parents.
